I inherited this tree from a workmate. He's had it for 10 years, took it from the woods. But he no longer has the time to care for it. Judging by the condition, he really did not know much about 名媛直播. I have studied 名媛直播 over the years, had a few plants, but was also too busy to keep them up properly. This tree is interesting, but I don't know how to start reviving it or if it's even worth it. He has cut off branches soooo many times on the 4 main branches it looks abnormal.?Please help if you can!

It is not skills that put the tree into this condition, but lack of time. Also the very reason it was given away.

The lack of skills I mentioned was because all 4 main branches have has multiple blunt cuts of their sub branches. To me that makes the gnarly tree less natural and kind of ugly.?dropfrog wrote: You cannot judge a persons bonsai skills on the health of the tree at one stage after 10 years. If he collected it from the nature, made it recover and live for 10 years he have enough skills.

He gave it to my wife because she did him a favor.?
The main thing I'd like to know is if there is a way to take those knobs of cut off branches on the ends of the 4 branches and make them look more natural?
Thank you!

The knobs is small pieces of the cutted branches left behind for dieback. A common method used by experienced bonsai artists to secure survival of the main branch. After the new growth has hardened and got into proportion it is taken off and the transition from thicker to thinner is established. On small trees concave cutters is prefered, on bigger trees and branches, dremmel type tools or sharp branch saws is used.?

Would you have any comment of the other growth in the pot? It's spreading a fair amount. I kind of like it, but if it's just resource sucking weeds I'll get it out. In some places growing up, other places spreading quite a bit!

My experience is the longer the weed grows the more roots it has and the harder it is to pull. And, the more soil the roots pull out.Tropfrog wrote: I like to weed out my trees from time to time. Not that I can keep up with all of them.
The trees have had a three week vacation from me. Weeding will be a task.
