名媛直播 is turning yellow, how do I stop it? was created by Boejunda

Hi,
I was gifted a bonsai earlier in the year. It's my first bonsai plant, and I've been excited to care for it. But over the past few months it's leaves/needles have slowly been turning yellow. I think it may be dying, but I can't figure out how to stop it.
I originally kept it on my desk, which is in front of a window and gets plenty of sunlight. I would mist it daily, and occasionally water it more deeply. It star ted turning yellow however, and I've been looking online for advice on how to stop it.
I've since moved it outside to a southward-facing balcony where it gets direct sun for at least half the day. I feel like since doing this, the yellowing has accelerated. I've also noticed that the little branches get stiff and not as flexible if I don't mist them frequently, but I'm worried that I'm over-watering the tree and it may be contributing to the yellowing.
The soil is what it came in. Water poured into it drains out the bottom of the pot easily.
I used to use tap water, but have since switched to filtered water on someone's advice.
Can I save this tree?
Please help me save this tree. I really want to nurture it, but I'm afraid I'm not much of a green thumb.

- What kind of tree is it? My best guess is a juniper or pine.
- Is this an outdoor tree? I feel like it looked better when it was indoors.
- How much water should I really be giving it? I'm finding inconsistent advice everywhere I look.
Please help me save this tree. I really want to nurture it, but I'm afraid I'm not much of a green thumb.

This species is hardy and keeping it inside killed it. Full stop

Geoff is right. There is no hope left. And the reason mentioned is correct.
I just wonder.....You switched between tapwater and "filtered" water. What do you mean? What filter was used?

Just a brita-style filter for drinking water.
I guess I'm kinda surprised. For a tree that is "hardy", it was only indoors for about a month. Doesn't seem hardy to me, at least as I understand the word.
In any event, I may try again now that I know this little bit of wisdom. Perhaps it's a better topic for a different post, but what would make a good beginner tree that can sit indoors on a desk next to east-facing, wide windows year-round? Any recommendations? I suspect I would do better if I actually picked out the tree and knew up front how to care for it, rather than being gifted it with no identification and no guide for care.

The term hardy refers to the species able and needing to take frost in winter. It does not mean that it will survive neglect or wrong environment. You could try a ficus.

Brita filter uses ion Exchange tecnology. It exchanges hardness ions for salt ions. Both of them is problematic for your tree. The harness ions not as much as salt ions. Basically, thou well ment, you made the water worse for your tree, not better.
When we talk hardyness in trees we talk about how much cold they can tolerate but also what they need to survive. All hardy trees need winter dormancy. Without it they die.
Junipers really love heat, humidity and sun in summer. Indoors is normally not enough of humidity and sun. In most cases not enough heat. But it has nothing to do with hardyness, at least not the hardyness we talk about in growing plants. The classification used in US is usda, but every country has its own hardiness classifications.
But the very first reason for your tree to die is proboably because it was a poorly rooted cutting. They just do this to get cheap trees out to the market fast. It does not have much to do with bonsai really. Just as the modern "invention" of so called indoor trees.
Indoor all year round is not recomended for any tree species. Even the so called indoor species will do much better if kept outdoors all summer.

?My ficus is not Hardy, so it comes inside for the winter. I have it in a window seaf during winter with sun all?day, with a grow light on 8 hours a day.?
It loses leaves during the first month inside,? keeping some on the sun side, but only some. About a week after going outside the leaves come back,
It wants sunlight,? and that is its main requirement.? And, it wants wind, but I think sun is the main requirement.?
Outside, 8 or 9 months, water is rain water some days and hose the other days. In July and August it will be hose water twice a day. Winter water mostly comes from the aquariums which were brita filtered water originally.? After the fish are finished with it it has quite a few good chemicals. It drops leaves anyway.
The jaboticaba and the baobab both experience the same leaf drop. I used to think it was winter dormancy but now I think it is really just sunlight.?
Note the word think. A botanist might disagree.? I would listen to the botanist and?change my opinion.

Ivan: I think you could lose less leaves if not using the slightly salty water from the brita filter.
