Is my bonsai growing normally?

Hi, I recently (2 1/2 weeks ago) planted some seeds to grow my first bonsai tree. (From a kit I got in Japan. I was provided a small pot, seeds and soil.) It is either a red or black pine, I can’t remember. Today I noticed it had germinated but the seed seems to be at the top of the plant. Is this normal? Do you have any advice on how to take care of it next? Thank you.

There is no such thing as bonsai seeds. Whatever that is you have a germinated seedling, Yes of course that is the way seeds germinate.

So they sell those seed kits in Japan as well. Funny, I would hope they did not.
名媛直播 is an art of creating a miniature of a mature old tree. The first years it need to get a mature look. Pines are amongst the slowest ones. My black pines planted in ground are around 10 years now and has not got the mature bark yet. I guess it takes 20 years in the ground or like 50 years plus for a tree seed left to develop in a small bonsai pot. That is why most of us start our bonsais from pretrained stock or suitable garden center materials. The first 10+ years is just growing trees and do not have much to do with bonsai. Maybe cut tap root at one point and wire for initial shape at one point. That is like 15 minutes bonsai work in 10+ years.
