Hey there! Saved this bonsai from the trash after my mom took it out of the pot and threw it away in early January. Pretty sure it’s a dwarf jade.
Anyway I asked for advice on another page and they told me to put it in a bright window and forget about it until it was pushing new growth. No watering or anything. It’s lost more leaves but has some baby looking ones at the tips but not much and they could have been there before.
Any advice on what is wrong with this thing? Should I prune it back or should I wait until after daylight saving this weekend and give it more time? I’m in Virginia for reference.

I do not know your climate. But I want to point out that it if the trash bin was outside and you got frost, the tree is dead.
If not got exposed to frost. Just take it outdoors to full sun as soon as night temperatures is safe above 5 degrees. If it survives it will sprout new leafs as crazy. In my area jades kept outdoors in summer do not need watering. Our summer rains is more than enough. In fact, I never water those trees kept outdoors. In summer they got the rain and in winter they are kept cold and bone dry.
