This is my syzygium brush cherry tree and it recently produced new growth however after the last week or so all the new growth has died ( I assume ) and its dropping alot of leaves , its been in the same place since I've owned it and it was thriving at first ? Have I over watered it ? Too much light ? Not enough light ? Not enough water ? Please help me as this was my first bonsai tree

I'm based in the UK if that helps !

Often when newly purshased trees gets into bad condition fast it is due to environmental factors.

In this case my best guess is that this subtropical species was kept cold and dormant during the authum. You bought it in mid winter and put it in livingroom conditions. It woke up and started to grow at the total wrong part of the year. Lack of sunlight made it weaker as well as dry air.

What you can do is to chill it down to about 5c until spring. Once outdoors is safe above that 5c mark, put it outdoors. If it has not recovered by summer solitice you know it is dead.

Thankyou so much , I have a conservatory which gets chilly but not below 8c , would it be OK in there for now till it can go outside ? I do have a greenhouse but it's still too cold for that right now .

8c is better than 20c. Put it out there.

What you look for is the spring push. When days gets warmer and longer they react with bursting new buds. Until then nothing.

When it happens is different for different trees, locations and even years.
