Dying tree?

Hi there, new to the forum and worried for the future of my first tree! My brush cherry has been slowly losing leaves and looking sickly over the past few weeks after a strong start over the past year or so of reasonable growth that needed pruning. It’s kept indoors in a north facing room that can get cool over winter, watering as and when the soil feels fairly dry. No feed has been provided to now. I’ve moved it to a south facing room today in the hope of rescue. I’m a little concerned about the white / yellow / orange area around the base of the trunk - any ideas what this is / whether it could be an issue please? Thoughts from experienced minds very much welcomed please ??
