Hi
So today I saw my house warming gift which was pretty much dead and I thought, why not start learning the art of 名媛直播 (not sure if that's actually a saying).
I have a Ficus that needs saving and I bought a new Buddleja saligna as a backup incase my Ficcus cannot be saved.
I bought myself a Buddleja saligna bonsai (according to the tag), pruning scissors, wire, potting soil.
I repotted the ficus in an attempt to save it and now I would love your input to grow it further.
(1) The trunk on top was dead so I chipped away the dead wood to get to a point where it was greenish. Not sure if this was a good idea? If so, how can I make sure it grows branches from there?
(2) The branches are thin at this point, should I wait to wire it?
(3) The trunk is really thick, how do I bend it?

This was a ficus microcarpa ginseng. One small leaf species grafted on top of another fast growing big leaf species. I say was, because you just cut the graft of.
1: it is not possible to shose where new beanches grows. Instead we grow thriving trees that grow branches everywhere and remove those on the wrong places.
2: wiring is easier on thin branches than on thick ones.
3: Do not atempt to wire that trunk. It is not possible.

Just a reflection I wish to add. The topic is how to save the tree, but none of the stated questions have anything to with that.

So do you think I can save this?
If so, any quick tips?

Yes, I think it is possible to save it. Light, humidity and water will help it. Pruning, repotting, wiering or any other styling will not and should only be done on healthy treed.

Thanks. I've attempted to graft 2 branches vertically and will secure tightly and wait for at least a month.
I'll follow your advise and grow both trees to a healthy state and big enough.
