Afternoon all,
It’s my 3rd winter with my Japanese black pine, grown from a seed.
Recently Iv noticed the pines going a lighter olive colour. It’s been watered and had as much of the UK sun as possible.
Snow is expected for the next 3 weeks in the south east. I can move it out of the snow but it’ll limit its direct sunlight as it’s on a north facing balcony.
I have the option to move it to a greenhouse on another property?
Is it looking healthy? Any tips or tricks to survive winter?
I was planning to start shaping it this winter, good idea?
Thanks

Looks like it is indoors on the photo?? Not much risk of snow getting to it I would asume.

I had just brought it inside to take the pictures, it’s normally sat in the corner of my balcony to try maximise any direct morning sunlight.

Ok. Snow is no problem. My JBPs has been covered in snow the last 4 weeks or so.

Thanks, glad to hear!
From a glance, would you say the tree is looking healthy?

What forecast are you looking at!!!?? Snow insulates so if it was covered with snow which is highly unlikely then it would be fine. There is no reason to protect this plant at all. It could be wired to get movement in the trunk, but unless you know what you are doing I would suggest leaving it for this year.

The yelowing needles is not a good sign. However new buds has been developed so there are still hope.
