Hi! Love that Empire Central has a forum. Forums r such a great way to learn anything.
Quick intro is I'm taking the beginner's course, my other main hobby is soapmaking, & ChatGPT told me today that the 20 year old ficus I've been growing since college is good for bonsai.
Since i love this plant i thought what better way to honor my plant and learn some advanced horticulture than bonsai it!
My initial idea before i heard about bonsai was to remove a lower branch in order to create a space to meditate underneath the canopy, which is what i'll prob do depending on what u guys recommend. Not in a bonsai pot tho. Maybe different plants in bonsai pots.
I want to make a few bonsai. So the best bonsai is wild-harvested from a cliff at high altitude?
Why my ficus not have singular fused trunk like the example?

That's cool. Funny running into another soapmaker in a place like this, or maybe not.
I was hoping to make some soap today but i made a huge goof and am now waiting for the correct type of pH meter to arrive before I start on what's turned into my first masterbatch.
23 lbs of materials i'm trying to save.
My prize petunia fell off the shelf in high winds yesterday and the adobe pot cracked. Trying to save the plant. Actually, I'm going to go outside now and check to make sure she doesn't need to be moved a few feet into the light right now.
Also my family owns a legal cannabis farm so I might be a little more versed in advanced horticultural techniques than say the average joe.
