Any experience with Santa Cruz Ironwood (Lyonothamnus floribundus) was created by dsmathews22

I recently purchased a young Santa Cruz ironwood in a gallon pot from a native plant sale in Southern California. It already had a really nice curve to the trunk so I thought I would give it a try. It's a member of the Rosaceae family so that suggests to me that it will respond well to heavy pruning and the branches at the moment are flexible and as the name suggests once it matures the trunk is rock solid which makes me think it will also take to wiring well. It's a stunning tree in it's native habitat so I think I might be onto something, but since it's a rare tree that's endemic to only 3 small islands off the coast of California online bonsai resource are non-existent. Has anyone ever worked with this species before? Specifically Lynothamnus floribundus Ironwood, there's probably 100 different "Ironwood" trees around the world. Thanks!
