So I have been getting mushrooms in this pot for the last two years. is this a problem?
The tree has been growing fine though. I think I will try to clean out a bit more soil next year when I repot

There is a huge amount of weeds as well as the mushrooms, it needs cleaning up. When was the last re pot? I would remover the top 25mm and replace with fresh soil and probably re pot next time.

I agree totally with Geoff,
The mushrooms itself is not a problem for the health of the tree and remove them will not stop new ones from coming. They are just the fruits from the mycel. The mycel itself is not a problem neigther (for the health of the tree)
However, weeds may be a problem for the health of the tree as they compete for root space and nutritions.
Both mushrooms and weed may be an aestaetic problem. Personally I think mushrooms looks good if in proportion to the tree and adds an aestaetic value. While weeds seldom do. I classify moss as weeds as well.

I repotted two years ago in spring. So I will do that this coming year.
what would you use to remove the soil? A root rake or something similar?
I have a lot of weeding to do, as I've been away for a few weeks.

Use a rootrake or scribe tool or scraper anything that will remove it be gentle, and take the moss of the trunk as well.
