After a record hot September fall is arriving here. The next two days are highs and lows 68F/20C and lows of 45F/7C followed by lows of 12 to 16C.
Should the tropicals come inside because of these two nights or wait until the next spell below 50F/10C?
Tropicals in question are willow leaf ficus, jaboticaba, baobab, and carmona.
I could move them in for two nights then back out, but I would prefer not, particularly the ficus which is pretty big.

I would not bring them indide because of 2 nights at 7c. Nigel Saunders had is tropicals in 7c in the basement the whole winter before the plant room was built. I have my tropicals (carmona eucalyptus and Schefflera) in 5c all winters.
However, your baobab is a desert tree and do not like cold and wet. At this time of the year I would have overhead protection from rain on this species.

Rain - that's water falling from the sky? I think I remember that. Oh, yes, back in July.
I'll bring the baobab in and leave the others out, and watch for the next cold nights.
Actually, it rained Thursday night, enough to water the trees, but that was the first rain since July.

That is why it is so hard to give targeted advice in an international forum. For me authum is the wet season. Low temperatures above zero C is not too bad for trees with fairly dry roots. I move my trees to the greenhouse just to keep them fairly dry, not because of cold. My desert plants has been in there since early August. That is a month earlier than normal. But it was just so wet.
We have aprox 1000mm of rainfall anually. Most of it is in authum and spring. How much do you have?
