Twinwall plastic is superior to glass. And the bigger the better. Less than 8 cubic meter is a death trap.
Althou it is called greenhouse, I have never heard about or seen greenhouses that are actually green. It is inside it should be filled with green stuff. White is not an option as it reflex light, but I have a hunch you ment transparent?

This is a small green greenhouse. I agree clear transparent makes more sense.

Ahh. That is called grow tent in my language. The same things apply to them. Less than 8 qubic meters is a death trap. This kind of plastic tarp will deteriourate and crack in less than 2 years.

These structures might look ok, but they heat up very fast which is exactly what is not wanted during the winter, and especially spring. Most trees do not need protection, I only protect some from rain not frost under a cover that is open.

Heat is not the only problem. They cannot tollerate much wind. If the tent is blown away by wind there may be more damage to the trees than cold can make.
And really. These tents cannot protect against the lowest temperatures in night. It will be same as outdoors. Only in the day the temperature will be higher than outdoors.
I do protect my trees in a greenhouse in winter. As soon as spring sun comes the doors are open all the days and fan on to get excess heat out. I protect them from excess rain and hard wind, not temperature.

A greenhouse when I was a kid was made of glass and used during the winter to keep plants green. Mu grandparents had one that was probably 3x3x3 meters. Commercial growers would use them to grow vegetables during the winter, also calling them hothouse. Those would be pretty big, maybe 50 meters long.
The local botanical garden has a very large greenhouse with tropical sections and a desert section. Most of the year it has windows open, sometimes a fan running. It is probably twice the size of my house, maybe three times.

Indeed we live under different conditions Ivan. Here it is too expensive to keep a glass greenhouse frost free in winter. Not to talk about keeping it warm enough for food production in winter. On the other hand there are not enough natural light for that anyway. November to january normally have 2-10 hours of sunshine each.

Winter we get 10-11 hours of daylight, mostly temperatures above freezing. Sunlight us almost enough to keep it warm during the day. Different climates.
