Hi guys,
Would anyone please explain to me why my ficus is experiencing a very high leaf fall?
The tree doesn’t get overwatered, I dry the soil before heavy water. Regular misting and 2 weekly fertilisation. I don’t know what’s happening, is this something seasonal?
Some of the leaves look healthy.

In my location ficus shed a lot of leaf in winter, up to 75%. I guess because of lack of light and dry air. A few leafs do drops now and then all through the year.
Your pictures do not suggest a big leaf drop. All I can see is a quite healthy and full ficus and 7 dropped leafs. That is not a sign of high leaf drop.

Hi,
The tree is losing a lot of leaves, the picture was to show how healthy looking leaves are dropping, I just wanted to know what’s going on, thanks for your answer

I would not let the soil go dry on ficus in summer. Not sure If leaf drop have anything to do with it, never tried myself.

I agree, seems seasonal, like it's just shedding it's leaves as it get's less and less daylight.
Here on southern hemisphere it's starting to warm up and trees are waking up, so I presume it could be the oposite on your situation?
Tree seems healthy, I wouldn't fertilize much as it slows down.

I would asume it is a little bit early for seasonal leaf fall. But I guess it depends on the location.
If seasonal change is the reason, I would put it in a place that gets more sun to delay it as much as possible. But I am in Sweden where we have almost no light awailable for 4 months in winter. Here ficus lose more than 75% of the foliage in winter and look really ugly come spring.

If you are in winter keeping it on the dry side is OK, but this intense fertilizing is not
If you are in summer the tree should get more water (I see soil substracte from the pot which is in indication from bad substrate & dry substrate). If the tree is not growing well, do not fertilize.
If you are in summer, I would try to keep it outside.

The best Solution if possible, located Outside at a sunny Place, 3-4 Sunhours a Day minimum , 6-8 Sunhours will be better.
I would stop fertilize and start again next spring when the Tree starts growing.

We don't know it TS is in the nortern or Southern hemisphere. If in Southern the recomendation should be start fertilize this spring, not next. Or to be safe, fertilize from spring to late summer.
