Brown leaves on Chinese Elm

My 25yr old Chinese Elm is struggling. I’ve had it for about 2 years. I keep it outside on my back porch near the side of my house. I live in Nashville TN, which has hot and humid summers, currently seeing some days in the low 90’s. It gets morning and afternoon sun but is in the shade by maybe 1-2pm. I water when the soil gets dry but recently the leaves have almost all turned brown. I just put some of the cube fertilizer things down to try and help it but it’s really struggling and I’m worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Never, ever fertilize an unhealthy tree. When they don't grow they don't take any nutrients and it can acumulate toxic amounts in the soil and worsen the problem.
