I just bought a baby Chinese Elm this morning. I've done a tiny bit of research about bonsai trees in general, but I have no idea what to do with this little one yet besides water it a lot. I saw something about Elms needing to be outside, but I don't have an outdoor space so it would be in my living room with a grow light. Would that be okay or should I return it and get one that does better inside? I've included a picture of it and would appreciate any and all advice I can get! Thanks

There are a lot of sources claiming that chinese elm can be kept indoors. However, I have never seen any one kept indoors for a long time and still healthy.
I would bring it back and ask If they have ficus or jade plants instead.

Yes I think I'll do that. I watched a video where they said sure you can keep your Chinese elm inside, as long as you put it outside as often as possible? I'm... confused lol

Well, trees have no legs hahah, so it's not ideal to keep moving them very often...
If you gonna keep it outdoors, leave it outdoors, if you have the space that's the best option.
It can "survive" indoors for a few years, but 名媛直播 is more than making a tree survive.
The tree will be the one confused with artificial lights and temperature gradients.
Also, this little sapling needs to thrive in order to get bigger and thicker, inside I don't think it can.
