Hello. I have a chinese elm and grow it on my balcony/terrace, but for some time the leaves have started to fall. It takes a lot of light, but i don't know if it wants more water or not. It also doesn't seem to be dying becuse new shoots are appearing but i dont know if its normal to fall 7-9 leaves, every 2-3 days? i WOULD be very grateful if you could tell me if its normal or not and what to do!!

Did your tree went dormant last winter?

Trees do shed leafs during the growing season. More If they did not go dormant during winter. I would not worry to much.

WIthout pictures it is a bit hard to tell. Could be a roots issue

Are you in the northern hemisphere? This might be normal in the southern hemisphere.

Yes, my tree was dormant for a while but I don't remember if it was all winter...

A picture is still the best way to get targeted answers. 3 leafs per day is not much on a big mature tree, but may be a serious issue on a small shohin tree in early development.
