I would consider repotting in bette rsoil. The substrate it is in now is dense and stays wet a long time. The algea (not moss) on top show that too.

I would allow your tree to grow out a bit, then prune back. It is good for plants to grow bushy, it builds there energy up. Constantly pruning branches that come out of the profile will weaen the tree.
