Hi,
I have a Japanese white pine which is fairly new. It’s an old tree and on its own roots. The tree was wired last autumn. Buds were set but coming into spring a couple branches look like they are dying ie brown needles but the buds still look ok but not yet started to sprout into candles . The rest of the tree looks fine and buds are growing nicely. Is there any hope they will grow? The tree suffered slightly from heat last year so some tips lost the needles but the buds are still growing. I protected it from rain during the winter so it wouldn’t get too wet.
Thanks
Lewis

It happens. I have a white pine that dropped a branch for no reason. Trees on their own rootstock are difficult to grow,

Buds can open even if the needles have dropped. But not certain.
