Greetings,
I purchased this young Serissa 5 days ago and this is my first bonsai project that I am attempting from humble beginnings. I have plenty of experience with other plants (7 others under my care currently) however I’ve never cared for a bonsai and I am up to the challenge.
I have changed its environment to now my house, where it now rests upon its mantle here in my room ( the temperature ranges from 13 degrees Celsius to 25 degree Celsius over the course of the year roughly ), it also gains some evening filtered sunlight through the glass door for about 2-3hrs every day (unless it’s winter and it’s less sunny). I gave it a good drink the day of purchase with watering can until water ran through the bottom of the soil and dripped out the pot and then I stopped.
Apart from this I have not touched it, I’m curious if anyone had some pointers of where to go from here. I know long term id like to repot to a bigger pot (probably 2x the size) however that will not be for at least another 6 months as I am aware that due to the change of environment it will likely drop the leaves and acclimate to my room. I would like to make minimal changes for the next 1-2 months as I wish to see if my care (watering, room positioning etc) is adequate and to allow it time to grow a bit also. If anyone has any ideas of things I should do for this bonsai or things they would recommend changing I would greatly appreciate the help.

Trees need the environment to be close to the environment where they evolved.
On your mantle the temperature range is different from where it evolved, the light range is different, the humidity is different, and the air currents are different.
Food for a plant is sunlight. We fertilize and say we are feeding, but that is more like vitamins for people. Food - energy source - sunlight.
Incandescent lights aren't the same. LED lights aren't the same. You can get a grow light, but you need to provide the tree total dark for many hours a night.
The tree needs to be outside. If it is too cold for the tree right now it may survive with a south facing window (or, in the southern hemisphere, north facing), but it should be outside once temperatures are above lower limit - usually 50F/10C.
There are hundreds of posts here about trees inside. I have never seen one that said this tree has been inside for over a year and is still alive.

Thankyou for the advice it’s muchly appreciated. I’ve taken it on board and decided I’ll move the bonsai outside. This area I’ve photographed for your reference is on my back deck and gets direct sunlight morning and evening. Through the mid day period of about 10:30am - 3pm it’s part sun part shade (as you can see this is the time I’ve photographed it). Will this be a good position for the bonsai going forward? If yes, do you recommend I move it immediately?
The temperatures outside are okay for the bonsai through the day and night periods as I’ve checked.
The pot it’s currently in is quite small, by this logic and moving it outside, do you recommend a repot to a larger pot at the same time?
Thanks in advance

When moving a tree from indoors a slow transition is very important to aclimatice the plant slowly to the increased sun. Espessially serissa is very sensitive. Start in full shade and move slowly into your prefered location over a 4-8 week period.
The pot is enough for the tree. Get to know how to care for the tree before repotting.
