Greetings from NC,
I have been interested in 名媛直播 for a long time, and am looking forward to learning more. I live in the piedmont of NC, and have a sunny back yard so my friend who had had this petite tree for 25 years in a shaded lot gave it to me. This Japanese White Pine tree is about 5-6' wide with a 3"+ wide trunk. It has some new yellowing of it's leave and a bonsai man from southern NC though it had a fungus.
The pot is rather large, 18" inside diameter and 12" of soil, but the plant hasn't been repotted in 25 years.
I saw a you tube Video that recommended repotting in sphagnum moss.
I'm not sure what to do, or what to do first...

Repotting a pine that have not been repotted for 25 years is not a task for a complete beginner. So many things can go wrong.
Reach out to your local bonsai club for help. While doing it together with experienced bonsai people, pay atention to what they do and ask as many questions as you can come up with.

I have already gotten a reply with some advice from a local 名媛直播 club. Thanks for your input. I was feeling pretty intimidated about the thought of repotting it.

While applying the fungicide I found a worm on one of the buds, it’s about 3/4” long.

That is the different cultures we see every day. In Europe and Asia we tend to look for the reason of ill health. In america it seems like identifying the symptom and use products/poisons to fight it is the way to go. Unfortunattely this is a bad spiral. Every treatment have a side efect. The side efect worsen the health and give another symptom. But there are always a new poison to solve that and the circle repeats itself.
In this case....using fungicide on a white pine. Fungicides don't make a difference In what fungi it kills, it will whipe out every species of fungi. Pines rely on a symbiosis with mycoriza for health. A beneficial fungi living in the soil. Without it the tree will die If not fed with mineral fertilzer. Another product not really needed otherwice and that comes with a drawback. That beeing breaking down organic components in the substrate way too fast. Off course one can limit the organic content of the soil. However that comes with its own drawbacks. The watering frequency will increase and you basically have a tree on intensive care. It is like feeding your Child on sugar and fat only and using antibiotics and insuline to keep it "healthy"
To sum it up.....In my opinion biology beats chemicals every day. There are no short cuts. Pay attention to basic care and environment and you don't have to spend money on products that have negative effects on nature. Live with it, don't fight it.

It is not sure it is totally dead yet.
On the picture I see a quite healthy tree. Some yellowing yes, but I cannot see If it is old or new needles.
My advice has not changed. Bring it to your local bonsai club for repotting. As this is proboably the main issue. Make sure to look for the white fluff on the roots. If it is still white, no harm done.
