Hello! My fukien tea tree has been fine in its location and with its care schedule for about 9 months. I know general advice has been not to move it but it seemed happier when I let it out in the sun a few hours a day a few days a week. I brought it to a bonsai society to be reported when I got it, and so it was professionally wired and theoretically put in proper soil. The soil drains very fast. Once a month I give it bonsai fertilizer and it starts growing leaves like crazy. It made flowers for about 3 months.
One time I left it out too long and all the leaves fell off from scorching. I thought it was dead. To my surprise, after about a week, leaves started growing and the tree had more leaves than it had before the scorching in less than a month. This tree is amazing and I'm very emotionally attached to it.
As it got colder, I stopped putting it outside about 8 weeks ago. I kept in its usual place in a bright window and used a humidifier once in a while because I ran the heater more than usual. It seemed fine until about 2 weeks ago. New leaves form but they curl in on themselves and die, or get brown on the edged and fall off. Perfectly green small leaves with no discoloration simply fall off. I tried increasing watering and that did nothing, so I returned it to its usual schedule. I use the humidifier more often and make sure it is getting sun as it always did.
These leaves on the bottom have been there for at least a month and seem okay. I think one fell off. The tree seems to be making new leaves but they don't survive, and I even see a new branch growing. What's wrong? What do I do? My poor tree. It deserves a more skilled companion.

This is a common problem with carmona. Most of them do not last as long as yours. I believe the high indoor temperature and himidity combined with lack off Light in winter is very stressful for the trees. But noone know for sure how to keep a long term healthy carmona indoors in temperate areas.

I'm no expert, but I do think these require quite a bit of light, and it sounds like your issue started when you brought it indoors permanently due to the weather. As long as the weather permits, I'd continue with your usual routine of giving it direct sunlight every day. If the weather doesn't permit, and it needs to be indoors for extended periods, my recommendation would be to get a grow light for it!
I was gifted a fukien in August last year and have no outdoor space, just some northern facing windows (i.e. not much light). I use a grow light for it ~11 hours per day, and so far it seems to be doing well (granted it hasn't even been a year).
