Chinese Elm Yellow Leaves Problem

Hi everyone,
I am very new to the art of bonsai. I bought this Chinese Elm about two months ago. Ever since this tree came in it started to develop a lot of yellow leaves from the bottm of the branches up and kept falling. I am not quite sure what is the main cause of this problem.
I usually water the tree thoroughly whenever the surface of the soil seems dry. Since I do not have a outdoor space in my apartment, I kept this tree at a relatively bright spot near the window and sometimes use grow lights on it when it was cloudy outside (upstate New York does not see much of sunlight during this time of the year).
I have attached some pictures below. Is there anything I can do to help the tree recover?
Thank you very much in advance for your help and wisdom!
Victor

Keeping it inside is the problem, lack of light and too warm. All of mine have no leaves now as it is winter. That is what happens with a hardy tree. It will probably recover and start to develop new buds, but they do not live long in that kind of environment. Chck the species guide on this site

Leafs falling in winter is normal for all decidious trees. My Chinese Elm kept outdoors att all times and protected in winter starten to shed in februari.
I guess at this point it is impossible to tell for sure If it is due to ill health or normal seasonal cycle. All you can do is wait and see If it will regrow new leafs.
I have seen a few indoor grown elms that was long term healthy. However, I have seen a lot more ill, dieing or dead ones. Don't know what it takes to grow them healthy indoors. However, outdoors seems to be a lot easier.
