The leaves have become thinner and the trunk has shrivelled and a few tiny green leaves at the bottom of the trunk have withered away..I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I really need your help to get it back to how healthy it was..please help me

It is very hard to tell what you are doing wrong if you don’t tell us what you are doing at all.
Please tell us how you cared for this tree the last 2 months you have had it.

Hello, I was told to water it once in 2 days by the person from whom I had bought the bonsai. So I had sparsely watered it without overflowing it, the place where I live has hard water so I watered the bonsai with hard water itself. I kept it in my balcony during the day for it to get ample of sunlight. I was also confused about how much to water the bonsai, some websites about bonsai care recommended watering it till the water drains out of the pot while others recommended sparsely watering it and I followed the latter because I had heard that a jade bonsai should never be overwatered. I haven't added any fertilizer...

So your jade is massively overwatered.
The art of bonsai is about growing trees in pots. You can call jades bonsai, but you can never care for it as a tree. Jades are succulents and it is crucial for their health that the soil dries out totally inbetween waterings. I water my jades once every week in the heat of summer. In winter I dont water at all for 4-6 months. Rest of the time once every two weeks.
That soil and water every other day will keep it wet at all times. That really kills roots.

Thanks a lot! Actually even pieces of the bark have been falling often, can you please tell me why that must be happening?
