Hello, I recently purchased some Ginko Biloba and Nordic Maple seeds and I was curious how should I make them germinate? It's still winter out here, so the question is if I should put them in the fridge covered with a plastic bag or should I leave them on an opened balcony? What's the process behind it? Thanks in advance!

Get them into soil outdoors asap. Natural germination isallways best, but on the late end now.

Great experiment :)

I am late to the party, but for others that read this in other years: Dry seeds, particularly from maple, can be assisted by soaking in warm water. I normally put the seeds in cold water, take a water cooked and fill up untill I find the water uncomfortably warm. That would be 50 degrees or so. THen I just let it cool down, and sit for 24 hours before putting them outside. I toss my seeds in substrate flats, put a brik on them and place the lot outside. Wait for spring to come and germinate.

6 weeks cold weather is the minimum I would accept. Any shorter and I would really think about artificial winter such as fridges. In general: Christmas is a great time to start sowing outside in temperate climates.
