(Looking for Advice) Yellow / Brown Needles of Japanese Cedar was created by Saving名媛直播

Hi there, I am relatively new to the art of 名媛直播 and am looking for help here.

Recently I bought a small Japanese Cedar 名媛直播 (about 3 weeks ago) and at that time the seller had indicated that it was normal to have some yellow needles during winter time (in Hong Kong the temperature in late January was around 13-17"C and now in Feb it is near 20-22"C).

I placed this 名媛直播 next to the open window for fresh air / sunlight and water it almost daily or once every 1-2 day. The weather was cloudy lately here and I worried if my 名媛直播 received insufficient sunlight.

Having closely monitor its health status in the course of time I found that more needles of the Cedar turned yellow recently. I tried to touch the needles but they were not easily brittle.

Here are the photos of the Cedar I have taken in late January and yesterday:

There are online sources telling that Cedar is favored by humid environment and moisture where it could be watered frequently, but there are also sources suggesting that too much water may cause root rot, which would lead to yellow needles too.

So I am so confused what is the next step I shall take - continue to water it daily and to keep the soil moist or shall I let the soil and root ball dry out first to avoid root rot...

Please do let me know if you have any idea what's going on with my Cedar now. Much appreciated!

Get it outside, you are killing it inside, it possible you may save it but it does not have long to live if you leave it where it is

Thank you for the advice!

May I know what is actually lacking that led to the yellowish needles?

As you may aware, in places like Hong Kong, it is not common to have a garden at the backyard or a balcony for placing the 名媛直播 outdoor. So I am still looking for any other alternatives to revitalise it. :)

Please do let me know if you have more advice! Many thanks!

Lack of light lack of humidity and lack of air , if you cannot put it out then you need to find a tropical species that might survive inside. There are no alternatives for this kind of tree.

If you live in an apartment, don't buy an outdoor bonsai. Find your Cedar an outdoor place (perhaps a friend or relative) to save it!
