Morning guys,
I hope you're doing okay?
This morning when I was watering my bonsai (I've got an Eastern Redbud that I grew from seed and a Ligustrum) I noticed that my Redbud was growing a leaf!
It shouldn't grow a leaf now because it's February, am I right?
It's always been inside, and it's got a very chilly spot as it's in the spare room in the window sill next to the window, and the window is opened most of the time.
I live in a 2nd floor flat, so no outside possible.
Is this normal?
Thanks guys!

Unlike humans, trees don't have electronic calendars to tell themselves what season it is, and they don't set appointments to tell themselves when flowers, leaves, etc., should start growing. They tell cues from things like daylight hours, temperature, wind, etc.
Tropicals don't expect cold weather cues, so you can put a tropical tree inside a human oriented building and it won't be too disappointed in having no below freezing weather. An outdoor tree like ligistrum or a redbud expect winter season with cold air, cold soil, and very short daylight and long dark nights.
Your tree is confused. It has warm weather and long light periods and is reacting as if it is April. Different species react to untypical weather differently. Mostly, no winter will mean no more than two years of life. Some will last three years, some less.

Thanks Ivan. I think it must be the light as you can tell that the days are getting longer now, it's getting a lot more light. I'll keep it here this year and for next year I'll move it to a more shady place for winter.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Indoor shade will not result in survival. The tree needs to be outside for most of the year.

It's not so much daylight as light from indoor lighting. The tree thinks dormant time is cold and 8 hours of light, or 16 hours of dark, but indoor lighting is on stretching that.
To duplicate the outdoors environment you need cold, dark, wind, winter rain, humidity, etc., and that is difficult to provide indoors.
