Hello All!
So I'm not sure what happened, My tree has been doing well for the past few years, but over the past 2 months I've noticed its lost quite a few leaves and now its losing them rapidly.....The are turning yellow and falling off at an alarming rate.
I'm not sure if I have under or over water it?
Any advice would help!

I normally water him twice a week with 5 ice cubes each time, but I can switch to hand watering. It worked very well for the past 2 years, im not sure why all of sudden it stopped working well, but thank you I will start watering him more frequently

Ice cubes! Never heard of that before. Strange method for a tropical tree that never ever encounter snow or ice in nature.
Ficus is best grown outdoors in summer.
Has it been a heat wave recently at your place? Did you run AC in your home?

Yup I have had it inside with the Ac on in my home, and the Ice cubes, were written as part of the care for instructions when I purchased the tree

Your ficus is a tropical tree that loves high humidity. Heating systems in winter dries out the air and makes them suffer. But by far not to the extent that AC units do. Running AC for a few weeks will definitely do a lot of harm or even kill a ficus.

Wonder if the theory of ice cubes is that it's gradual release of water but also helps humidity? Still sound strange to me...but I'm a complete newbie so most things sound strange at the minute

Possibly. But the correct way to water all bonsai is with a fine strainer abundantly over the whole soil surface until there is a steady stream of water coming out the drainage holes. That is proboably 10 to 20 times more water than you get from 5 ice cubes.

I think the point of the ice cubes is that they melt slowly and thus don't wash soil away. There may be a side benefit that they cool the soil a little.
One problem with slow release watering is that the water doesn't flow out of the holes in the bottom of the pot, so it never washes accumulated salts out. I guess if you use ice cubes made out of distilled water that would be OK. Another problem is that the slow release ice cubes may release too slowly.
There is a reason our experience is put the trees outside and water thoroughly with a shower attachment. That is because it works best and the trees live longer.
