Hi all!
I have an Italian Cypress that I started from seed about 1 year and 9 months ago. The first year was slow going but have kept it outside this summer and it has grown quite a bit. It is currently about 9 inches from soil to tip.
I have never trimmed or pruned any of the branches as I am not sure where to start. Some of the side branches are starting to become quite long.
Should I be pruning at this stage or just let it go? Should I repot into a shallow type bonsai pot?
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

This seedling needs to grow. There is nothing to prune, just let it grow for a couple more years and see what it is like.

I second Geoff on everything and adding.......If you want to put mowement into the trunk this can be done now and until the trunk is too stiff to bend. Not urgent as it may take a few years. But that is often one of the first tasks done on young trees, often long before first pruning.

Thanks Geoff and Tropfrog, that's great to hear! Will give it some time and look at putting some shape into the trunk first and foremost.
Cheers!
