New growth in bonsai pot? was created by Kcasey

I’ve noticed new growth in the pot of my bonsai tree, I’ve taken care of this tree for around 6 months now and I’ve noticed these new green sprouts very recently,4 of them, my tree is 14-15years old, just curious what this could be. Possibly other trees? Weeds?

Don't believe people stating age of a tree. I don't know the species. But no matter what, mass produced trees cannot take 15 years until sales ready. The maximum is 5 years. Given the thin trunk on your tree, we are talking about 2 or 3 years from cutting.

Well, actually some serious mass producers (Field Growers) can, but yes they're exceptions, when the trees on a nursery are labelled with crazy amount of years, it's generally a lie...

You know Junipers die indoors right? The soil also looks damp, but could be just the look of it.
I hope you just brought inside for the picture. =]

Off course one can mass produce as long that one wants technically. But after five years it is no longer financially acceptet to send them by thousands to garden centers all over the world. They have become to expensive for that market.

Ahh, I have seen them. They take big cuttings from a mature plant, let them root directly into the bonsai pot and ship poorly rooted within less than a year. 14 years old may be true for the tree they took the cutting from. With that logic the tree is proboably 100 years or more old. Because the donor is also from cutting and most likelly the donor of the donor as well. The industry seldom grow trees from seeds.

Your tree is less than a year from cutting.

Junipers needs to be outside at all times or they die.
