Hello, everyone! I just received my first two pre bonsai trees yesterday! A satsuki azalea and a Chinese elm. The package arrived from Brussel’s 名媛直播 a day early. When I read that online, I literally waited outside on my porch all day long. And boy, what a wait! My babies didn’t arrive until 8:30PM. But I tell you, all that watching for the FedEx truck was well worth it. As soon as they arrived, I woke up my nephew and took him downstairs to help me open it. They are beautiful. But now I’m worried I won’t even be able to keep them alive. I’m waiting to get paid to get a moisture and PH meter. Until then, I’m just feeling the soil, which drains very well. Today was especially hot, so I watered twice. Once in the morning and once at night. I’m also waiting to get paid to get the next two courses from 名媛直播Empire. I have no idea what to prune or how to style them. I just know they’re lovely, and I want to keep them alive a very long time. So much so that I plan on either buying an expensive glass greenhouse and gas heater, or an expensive Vivosun grow tent, to overwinter them.I’m kind of like an eight year old who just got into Pokémon. I plan to collect as many different kinds as possible before winter comes. My goal is at least one pre bonsai a week. Either from Brussel’s 名媛直播 or Wigert’s 名媛直播. The former ships theirs for free in good quality pots, the latter has more exotic pre bonsai to choose from. I am leaning towards the idea of collecting all the outdoor pre bonsai I can from Brussel’s, and then move onto Wigert’s, just because of the free shipping and pots. My next two pre bonsai will be the premna and Vietnamese blue bell.Any advice to someone just beginning their bonsai journey? Especially considering the specific kind of trees I got. I’m sort of stuck in the pruning and styling parts of it all. I want to wait until I have the best tools, and the next courses. I’m buying the Wazakura bonsai tool sets my next paycheck. Maybe a whetstone for sharpening them. And the beginners and intermediate courses. I’m hoping they’ll be packed full of information I’ll need to not only keep them alive, but prune and style them as well.Thank you in advance for all the answers I’m bound to receive. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Congrats on getting your first trees.

I think you should buy fewer trees, and get better trees. Once you have your first 5-10 trees, do nt get a tree unless it is better than all trees you already have.

Rather than buying one every week, save up and visit a major show and look for one good tree there.

There are loads of channels on youtube that deal with bonsai. Some of them pretty good. Browse those too.

I notice that beginner craving for starting to work on the tree. That has killed many trees.

What you should do now is get them to grow vigourously. None of them have any urgent need for trimming. The elm may need a hair cut in later part of the summer, thats it. If you feel like doing any major styling that has to wait until early spring. But honestly, waiting one more season will not hurt the trees and give you lots of time to learn how to grow your trees, read up on styling and make your decitions.

Vietnam bluebells is a tropical tree. Unless you live in a place that don't get frost I would not recomend getting that species. Put focus on trees that are fully hardy to your area instead.
