Recent got given a Japanese maple when I got it it seemed healthy but recently it's become droopy and looking unhealthy, it's outside I'm from the UK so summery weather here at the moment, I've kept it well watered but unsure what I'm doing wrong.

I would put it in the shade and keep well watered until it recovers.

Hi Matt - looks like you repotted it since you bought it? If so, what did the roots look like when you did it? Was it out of it's original soil for long, and what substrate is it in now?
