I have a couple of Sabina juniper yamadori bought early last year which have been doing well puting on good growth. I noticed about a month ago that both seem to starting to put out juvenile growth and this now covers pretty much every growing tip (both are around 30cm wide and 30cm high) on both bonsai. I'm not aware of any significant change in conditions - no change to my watering regime (water when almost dry), one has had some minor wiring done early in the year, no growth has been removed on either. I'm at a loss to understand why both should have developed the same problem at exactly the same time.

Maybe you can show some pictures. To be honest, I wonder whether you have sabina if you have needle growth on it.

Couple of pics attached. I got the yamadori from Graham Potter who had imported a batch several years ago so I'd be surprised if there weren't sabinas...

Agreed, sabina!
Interesting to see the needles there. I would not worry about it. The foliage looks healthy

Many thanks for your thoughts. It's growing strongly so I'll just wait and see what happens.
