I've purchased 14 yr old Japanese Garden Juniper. I have a few questions about care.

I live in Wyoming, where it is -20F in the winter, and 70->110F during the summer.

I keep reading that the japanese garden juniper is an outdoor species. This guy here that i aquired a week ago has slight brown/blue hues in its tufts from being kept in a garden store for a year or more.
I took the challenge to rescue this guy and learn how to grow, train, and keep a healthy Juniper 名媛直播.

My questions to you, forum, are if it would be wise to purchase a red/blue full spectrum grow light, to keep it indoors whilst it is too hot in the summer, and too cold during the winter. My hypothesis is that my home stays around 70F indoors, and that the grow lights would fulfill the energy requirements of the tree, providing I regularly control moisture and fertalization. Is this incorrect?

The tap water in my home tested to have a pH of 7, Hardness of 100 ppm, NaCL 120 ppm, and total alkalinity of 80 ppm.
Is my tap water safe to give to this bonsai? Or is distilled water preferred providing fertalization is maintained.

How often should I repot, change soil, and be concerned about root trimming?

Im sure all of these questions can be found somewhere in the forum, Im just seeking the answers straight from the horse's mouth as it were. I have done my research as far as training/pruning goes, but climate control is a touchy subject and i havent found a single solid answer. Some say indoors, some say outdoors, etc.
Seeking expert advice.

Thanks yaal, appriciate you.

Welcome to the empire!

That tree is not 14 years old. But it is quite usual that businesses and hobyists alike over estimate age of their trees.

Do not move the tree indoors ever. In winter make sure it is on the ground and covered in snow. That is how your native junipers cope with winter.

On the hottest days in summer, bring it into shade.

I can't use a grow light and keep it indoors?
Mind you almost all winter long it's -10 outside for 6 months and the roots will freeze.

Junipers needs winter dormancy. Without it they will die.

20/21 winter my junipers were solid frozen for 8 weeks in a row here. No problem. If you have snow to cover the tree you will give it better winter than mine.

You aren't giving me any answers to the specific questions I'm asking man, you're just telling me facts about the plant. My questions are referring to artificially stimulating the plant when it's too hot or too cold, like today is still spring and it's 89 degrees outside.

Can I use a grow light and humidity pad to keep my plant indoors during the summer, and stick it in the garage with a grow light during winter where it's 20 degrees instead of -20 outside

Well facts cannot be overlooked.

Yes, you can move your tree around accordingto season, yes you can get yourself a grow light. It will not be better than natural overwintering, but its possible to do so.
