Why are the leaves like this and how can I make them look better?

Or either lack of water... Hard to tell... With no more info than this, it's just a guess game..

I second that.
The reason for shivering leafs on jade plants is allways lack of water in the leaf itself and it can have two reasons:
1: Too little watering is obviously one and easy to fix.
2: Too much watering for an extended period of time, which have rotted the roots and inhibited their ability to take water and transport to the leafs. To fix this is not that easy and takes time.
But yes, a guessing game with given information. But the moss suggests overwatering. And if you are in the northern hemisphere the season right now suggests the same. Jade plants needs a very dry winter rest and can easily be overwatered during this period. Last week I gave my jade plants the first drink since october. But they are kept cold in winter. If grown indoors they need a small drink every 2-4 weeks or so in winter.
If you think that my analysis seems to fit your situation, just remowe the moss and let it completely dry out for 4-6 weeks. It will grow new roots, but will loose a lot of leafs meanwhile. Once new roots is grown resume careful watering and it will sprout back.
