My potted red maple for some reason is not growing new leaves. I live in New Jersey and I have seen many of these trees around all growing new leaves but for some reason my tree will not. I think that it is still alive because the trunk under the bark is still green but I’m not sure if there is a problem with it.

That scar on pic 3 id a serious problem. If the tree is still alive, when it push growth it will bleed heavily.

I am sorry but this tree has left our world already, from what can be seen on the pictures. Once the bark starts to get these black spots it usually is beyond saving.

for me too, given the pale green color on the notch!!
