Dark Trunk Base

Hello, new to the forum, first post. I have a juniper bonsai that I've managed to keep alive for 5 years. I'm no expert and have been learning as I go. But just within the past 2 months I've notice when I water the base of the trunk gets very dark. It stays that way for maybe 2-3 days then it looks normal again. It doesn't have a smell, and from the roots I can see they look fine.
I don't have a set watering schedule but check it everyday and water when needed. It's always been a outside plant. I'm using the same soil as I always have (Superfly nonorganic mix). Any help as to what's going on and any tips or tricks to try would be most appreciated. I've attached a photo of it helps. Thanks.

Maybe some brushing with wire brush will help?

Thanks, do I just lightly scrub away the soft black bark?
I just noticed today the needles are browning and some even brittle.. do I report and make sure there isn't anything like sediment packed under there holding water? I had an issue one time with a soil that had a lot of dust that settled and was causing drainage issues. I don't want to stress it out more but not sure what to do...

It probably has a bit of algea or old bark at the base that keep that part wetter longer. Nothing to worry about. Many of my trees show this too.
