Back to the first question:
PaEmerDoes it look normal?
Do you mean the spots on the leaves? Or the chuncks eaten out of the leaf?
Both. This the first plant I have bought and I don't know much about it. Also does the way the branches come out of the trunk look normal too? To me they look like they've been planted there but again I don't know about it.
Thanks

It's ok for me if some bugs eats a few leaves, as far as it has enough leaves and it's not an infestation...
That species needs a bit of more care about fungus, as they are a bit susceptible to sooty mold or black leaf spots... Nothing crazy, but it's good to spray some copper sulfate once in a while.
Also, I would not let a bunch of branches going out of the same spot, that can lead you to invert tapper, so I would select a few of them. However if you just bought the tree, just let it be for now.

Ahh I see. How often should I change the soil and when should I move to a larger vase?

In bonsai we repot for one main reason. That is to work on the roots. How often you do is depending on the root development and growth.
I know many people shange the substrate. However I dont. I allways sift out anything larger than 2 mm for reuse and just top it up with coarser materials.
General answer since I havent seen your particular tree yet.
