Tree ID and how to save it was created by WaldoDude

Hey all, was given this tree for my bday. Care card didn't say what kind of tree it was but seemed to give generic bonsai tree information.

I would like to know what kind of tree it is.

Initially had it inside for a week or two before moving it outside after learning that it shouldve been outside this whole time and the leaves were starting to yellow. Since keeping it outside the yellow has worsened. Im in australia, and its quite hot during the day, so maybe i havent been watering it enough? We're also coming into autumn-ish now so unsure whether the yellowing is normal or not.

Any tips appreciated!

Hello and welcome
Without a picture we can’t tell anything I’m afraid

Hi WaldoDude,

I've got an app on my phone very useful for plants and bonsai, it's called PictureThis.
With a picture it shows what kind of flower, plant or tree it is and a few tips on it.

Thanks,
Sergio

That's a Boxwood, seems like underwatered, put it on a partial sun position, like under other trees, and keep watering it abundantly.

I think it still can sprout back.

Care to give some more history of this tree. Did it arive in that pot? Already wired? With rocks on top. Or did you do that yourself? Did you do any firtilizing. (hold off for now, until new growth has grown few centimeters)
