Ficus microcarpa losing lots of leaves. was created by Galaxypuppy

Hello, last august i was gifted a Ficus Microcarpa, ive always wanted a bonsai so i was thrilled to finally own one.
i live in an apartment with the windows facing south in a temperate climate, The bonsai is placed near the window facing the west, but it does get sunlight most of the day. It has been doing wonderful so far with no problems up until a few days ago, when it suddenly started losing more leaves than usual.
I'm not sure if this is seasonal, or if this plant even has seasonal changes. i just want to make sure the tree isn't dying.

help would be very appreciated :)

Do you keep that moisture meter in the soil all the time? That is not a permanent meter and will give you wrong readings If usad as one. I think the meter fooled you and the tree is underwatered.

Hi Tropfrog, Thank you for the quick answer.

i do keep the hydrometer in the soil, but i always make sure to take it out and do a new reading.
i read online that the tree needs less water in the winter, so that is what i did.
how much water do you reckon it needs? should i water it until it drains out of the pot below? or is that too much in the winter?

It's normal for a Ficus to drop some leaves on winter.
Specially indoors on a temparate climate... Just make sure it gets enough light.
