Ficus retusa leaf drop

Hello! I am new to this forum and need some advice on the leaf drop my Ficus retusa has been showing. I have had the plant for almost 1 year (received February 2021). It has been doing well until December, then suddenly a large number of leaves yellowed and dropped, many buds have died, and multiple small branches are dead. Most of the yellow leaves have now dropped, but there are a few paling leaved that may be on their way out too.... However there are also many new buds that are still green and the main trunk seems to still be alive down to the base (green cambial layer).
It lives in a big south-facing window, gets watered regularly (when the top soil is dry but underneath still holds a little moisture), gets fed every 2 weeks (although less in winter)
I think the roots also still look alive, at least they are not the black/spongey roots of an overwatered plant. Does it look root bound? I'm unsure if I should try increasing water, feed more often, if I should repot it, or if this might just be a reaction to winter conditions (less sunlight and cooler temps)?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Now i do see the pictures in the first post. Some how i sometimes cannot see them, but others can.
Ficus still looks healthy. As leaves are temporary, the oldest onces do drop after a while. Normal process.
Seems like you did not prune it after the summer. If you had pruned it, it would backbud and grow foilage lower in the branches.
I would just keep it like this for now, when spring comes and you see new growth, cut them back (see video). (if possible put them outdoors in spring/summer)
When you see no growth on you ficus, there is no need for firtilizer. Only when all the leaves start to fade to yellow, you can give firtilizer (see video)
