Need help identifying what I have been given was created by Fruitbat67

I have been given what I believe to be a bonsai tree and it looks like I need to repot it but apparently I need to establish what it is first, to identify gender, so I can get
the right pot !?

Any help appreciated.

with a photo, it would be easier to identify the tree and give you the most appropriate advice and your geographical location

thank you for the photos, I think of a Myrtle, look in species of trees
there is its maintenance sheet
