Identifying my tree (Spruce or Juniper) was created by jfackler

I am having some troubles identifying my tree. The care for the 2 different types is different and I do not want to over water my tree. Please help.

I'm thinking of a Creeping Juniper - Juniperus procumbens Nana

Its a juniper. Looks week from missing the much needed winter dormancy. If you have no risk of deep frost going forward put it outdoors asap.

I live in Nebraska and we can have some harsh winters. Would you still recommend putting it outside?

Nebraska usda zone 4-5

J Procumbens usda zone 4-9

When growing in pot it is generally recomended to add a zone for plant hardiness. So you are really at the limit. But indoors it will die for sure.

For now try too keep it as cold as possible withour freezing. Come spring, put it outdoors and start preparing for next winter. It will need some protection. Cold frame, unheated greenhouse or a shed. If you get a lot of snow, just putting the tree on the ground and make sure its covered in snow all winter may do it.
