Hmmm. Only one is dead, or dying. Seems like the other is doing very good as I type. I was looking for advice that may be positive. I was given instructions originally on how to plant these and was told I could do these inside to get them started no matter the season. I also did do some reading, but thought I would find welcoming advice on this site. Obviously, I am not as experienced as some so maybe I will look for another more amatuer group to share my thoughts with. Thanks Tree frog
Well you got the wrong advice. There are a lot of them out there. Companies selling grow your own bonsai tree kits tends to want to sell them all year round and dont really care if they survive or not.
But as I always say, its only a failure if you did not learnt anything from it.
You might find other places where people will give positive comments, but that will not increase the chanses of survival of the seadlings nor give you accurate knowledge. Leatherbacks comment is as much possible as it can get without lying to you. Stick arround and your next try might be more successful?
Growing trees from seed can be quite fun. But if you are serious about bonsai get yourself locally hardy garden center or bonsai starter materials. The first 10 to 20 years from seed you are not really Growing bonsais, just seadlings and small trees.
My nick is tropfrog, not tree frog, althou many tree frogs are tropical.

A positive comment would be; I have also had seeds germinating outside the season, and kept them alive until they where able to go outside.
Keeping the seedlings alive, i would take the advice of leatherback, keep the seedlings in a cool unheated room, until they can get outside.
I do the same with one of my pine seedings. That room is 12celcius at the moment. Once sping arive it will go outside and stay outside.

Thanks leatherback! That is exactly the type of info I was looking for. I appreciate you looking beyond the timing I went with starting these seedlings and giving a very reasonable fix. I will take your advice and start moving this guy to a cold area and start to slowly relocate him outdoors. Once again I appreciate your kind advice!!

I wanted to show an update of my little American Seq.
Once Spring came this little guy really did sprout up. I was very worried at one time but now I think I am good to go. I appreciate the advice I was given. I know now I need to seed in the correct season.
