Hi all !

I'm a new member of this community and I'm new to the world of bonsai too. Recently I decided to try and grow one or two myself and it went really well! I've now got a Silk tree(mimosa?) seedling, two flame tree and two japanese black pine seedlings. The flame trees are still fighting their shells but they are looking healthy and have thick stems so my question is not about them right now.

My biggest concern are the pines which looked beautiful(8-10cm tall), and their "leaves" were nicely growing outward in a circular pattern after they got out of the shell up until a few days ago. They started to look wery weak, the "leaves" are shriveled up in the middle, and one of them even started leaning to the side. They did not grow at all since then. The Silk seedling is looking better, but overall still looks less energetic than before and has stopped closing its leaves(they opened in the morning and closed in the evening).

What could be causing this ? How can I help them ? Am I giving too little or too much water maybe ? I'm worried about the lack of direct sunlight too, since it's been cloudy for a week now so they only received quite little I reckon. Is sunlight that important for them at this stage ?
I'm not adding fertilizer to their water yet as I read that I should start after 6-8 weeks(they are only about 4 weeks old). Should I ?

Thanks for the help/tips in advance!

You are growing temperate species in the wrong season indoors. That is what is wrong. Black pines sprout naturally outdoors in spring when its still fairly cold and sun is plentiful. Indoors in mid winter is totally oposite.

Indeed, should had wait a little more, they seems to be needing light, and I hope you are sure about the species, because I'm not... :P That really looks like Brazilian Raintree seedlings...

Thank you both for the info! This was planned, but I was told that the pines would take around 2 months to sprout, so I thought they would reach their current state by the end of february. Instead they sprouted within 10 days lol.

I'm going to get a grow light to try and save them until spring comes.
