My son bought me a bonsai for Christmas, but need advise how to look after it during the winter, do I need a heated mini greenhouse?

The chinese elm is a quite hardy species that can be grown outdoors all year round in most of northern europe and US. We need to know your location and lowest temperature to answer your question.
