Ginseng roots, with retusa crafted on top of it?
New branches ususally grow from the leaf notes, red arrow.
But they also can back bud on other places if it has enough energy.

Sorry, normally better to use quotation. In some cases not a good idea. My comment was regarding LB link.

Sorry, normally better to use quotation. In some cases not a good idea. My comment was regarding LB link.
Never claimed mine was a ginseng.
By and large these tropical ficuses sold commercially for bonsai behave similarly when it comes to trimming, backbudding etcetc, as well as general care requirements. I think most of the non-ginseng ficus are f. microcarpa a.k.a. tiger bark fig. The ginseng roots I have not been able to get a clear answer to, but could be microcarpa or retusa, afaik.
