I rescued this bonsai from my mum, who had underwatered over the summer, and had it in the sun on a window sill. Is it a Japanese larch? Is it too far gone to save? P.ease advise me how I can get it through the winter. Many thanks.

It might be a Redwood but it will not be alive if you keep it inside. It is deciduous.

It could be a larch. It should be outside.

Could it be a podocarpus? If so it needs protection from frost.

Important to know is that this species drops it's needles in winter.Don't get confused that it is dying, but do what LB says, put it outside, protect it from wind, inside you don't have seasons, and it will die there.

Thank you, I will put it in a sheltered, sunny spot outside. Should I still water over the winter if it is outside?

Never let the substrate go completely dry.
