Hi, I've just acquired a new bonsai and would appreciate any advice I could get as to the best way to keep it healthy, I would be devastated if it died on me and I've heard it's not the easiest tree to maintain.
Should I buy a light for it because I live in the UK and its winter, there isn't much light in the winter, it goes dark at 16:00 at the moment. Should I use a fan for air circulation?
How often should I fertilise and water? Should I use a spray aswell?
I have seen a few little flies - any tips on getting rid of them?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

What species of tree did you get? Without knowing this, advice is not possible.
The flies are probably fungus gnats, a sign of too wet soil

First thing would be to ask the person where you got it, how they kept it.
What I can tell from your picture: Standing next to the heater is not great. And the lower branches do not seem to get a lot of light: They are on their way out.
As tropfrog said.. In the 10 years or so that I have been on this forum, no examples of healthy carmona's have been shown.

Thanks, that radiator is never on. Do you have any tips on grow lights, I'm assuming I won't have to get anything too spectacular.. just a little light to help once the sun has gone down?
I have noticed a very thin web within the tree as if there could be a spider, how would I deal with pests? Should I trust bug killer sprays not to kill the tree?
How often would you water it?

Thin web could be spider mites. That is quite common problem with indoor carmonas. They seems to be spider mites magnets in suthum when humidity drops. Look for tiny bugs under the leafs. Dont treat until you know for sure it is infected.
I fight spider mites with predatory mites and neem oil.
