Dawn redwood Grove browning was created by Cmccoog

First time posting in here. I am new to the Dawn Redwood species and have a small grove of them. I’ve noticed some of the leaves are browning, I know they do this as it gets cooler and I begin to overwinter however it’s been in the 70s the past few weeks with nights getting down to 55+ degrees Fahrenheit. Are they browning due to natural season change? Too little/too much water? Or maybe too much sun during the day. New to the species and have only been working with bonsai for a year or two now so any help or advice is appreciated.

Cheers.

Different species detect fall and winter different ways. Some detect length of days changing and decide fall is on the way regardless of temperature. Yours may be one of those.

My dawn redwoods are still green and I have both colder temperature and shorter days than op. It does not necessary mean anything as trees also are individuals.

As an example: I have two disectum maples in my garden. One has allready shed totally and the other one is still green.

I guess you are close to authum anyway and the tree will shed not long from now. I would not worry.
